More on Weddings…
Research proves 81% of wedding guests say the thing they remember most about a wedding is the entertainment.
According to a recent survey, most people are looking for affordable wedding entertainment that allows them to:
a) have input into which songs are played … and
b) guarantees their friends and family or corporate clients have an amazing time.
And that’s why you shouldn’t do anything until you see Tim Pringle’s live clips and song list. Tim is the rare kind of professional singer who can make the difference between your guests having a so-so time or one to crack open the champagne for.
He’s flexible, adaptable and caters to both young and old without being too wedding-ish or relying on cheesy wedding songs.
That’s why he’s often called upon to travel everywhere from New York City rooftop bars,
Austrian Mountain resorts, Castles in Switzerland, Bars in Budapest, Queensland Island Resorts to Star City Casino.
But the good news is Tim is based in NSW right between Sydney and the Hunter Valley so you won’t need to pay his travel and accommodation expenses to have him perform his magic.
If the name Tim Pringle seems familiar to you it is perhaps because he is one of the most awarded NSW Wedding singers (see awards on ‘About’ page)
These awards are also why several major Hunter venues list Tim as a recommended wedding supplier .
Tim Pringle is a full-time professional wedding singer with a difference: he has opened concerts for Kate Ceberano and Christine Anu… played shows with members of the Choirboys & Rose Tattoo… and performed live with Paul Kelly’s drummer, James Morrison’s violin player & Jimmy Barnes guitarist.
Here’s what Hollywood Associate producer Michael Doven who’s worked with Steven Spielberg and with Tom Cruise on such films as Mission Impossible, Last Samurai, Minority Report etc ….says..
“Tim Pringle…he was just amazing, he has a spectacular voice, oh my god just a beautiful artist that was really adding a lot to the evening with song after song and guitar playing that I personally just loved”

Tim is a great person to deal with, always responding to my emails very efficiently, listened to what Paul and I wanted and incorporated those things and also had some great suggestions and just a very friendly guy, always answered my questions which was a big issued with other wedding vendors and generally just a nice down to earth person – what else could a bride/groom ask for ??
Gabrielle & Paul Cheeseman
Scott and I would like to thank you for the time and effort put into our wedding. It was not only what we expected on the night but more, you were in contact with me at all times before the wedding which I found very calming and professional.

MC Service
This service is free – I am not a stand-up comedian but if you don’t have an MC in mind I can perform basic MC duties such as:
- Introducing the bridal party to the reception.
- Guests welcoming & farewells.
- Introducing speeches ( a wireless microphone is provided for speeches ).
Thank you for also being our MC and conducting this with a sincere level of professionalism, it is with thanks to you that we have such great memories of our day !
Sue and Scott Falkner – UK
We would love to thank you yet again for the MC work you did throughout the night. We had a hard enough time trying to decide on the perfect MC, and in the end we couldn’t have thought of anyone better than you. The fact that we hadn’t met made no difference, we feel through the many emails over the 6 months leading up the big day gave you a great insight into the type of people Brad and I are, and this showed in your work. You kept the night running smoothly and kept everyone in line (including those few who had too many champers)
Jodie & Brad Turner
Ceremony Music
This is a nice touch that creates a unique atmosphere.
Performed solo with voice and guitar or instrumental guitar or violin.
3 songs of your choice – I have loads of suggestions that I know have worked well
- One for Bridal Procession – usually something slow & romantic
- One for Register signing – a nice appropriate background song
- One for Bride & Groom Recession – something energetic & uplifting
Wandering minstrel violinist
If you book my duo with the violin player – Have your guests serenaded by a solo, wandering minstrel violinist either as they assemble before the ceremony, and / or during the drinks immediately after the ceremony.
Watching a DVD of our ceremony, the music was the ‘icing on the cake’ to the whole set-up. Tim’s acoustic sound, due to the lack of electricity at the location we had chosen, was more than adequate to entertain the 80+ people gathered for the ceremony.
Simon & Nikki Ley- Sydney
The acoustic guitar sounded amazing at the lighthouse and made our ceremony extra special.
Kathryn and Glenn Filtness
Father Rod Bower said he was impressed with how your voice carried throughout the church!
Paul & Kelly Flanagan – Muswellbrook
Serenaded by Violin
If you book my duo with the violin player – Have your guests serenaded by a solo, wandering minstrel violinist as they mingle prior to the reception.
Price for pre-reception canapes music or wandering violinist – on application – There are many variables – Solo or Duo, convenience of location – i.e. if pre-reception canapes are not the same location as ceremony or reception then it means a little more time setting up at a third location.
For up to 2 hours pre-reception music it is usually 10-20% extra depending upon location and circumstances.
Reception Music
- Often a dinner set or two first – very low- key background music to talk over.
- The Bridal waltz or first dance -This is played live (and learned from scratch if need be) or played from the ipod
Then formalities are over and it’s….Party time
- We do 2-3 sets of dance music or play until the end of the venue hire
- Then we play a farewell song of your choice while you say goodbye !
Break Music
- I provide all break music via an ipod that has 4500 songs and multiple play lists to cover almost every style of music.
- You can liaise with me on providing your own suitable break music on cds or your own ipod.

FAQs
Got questions? We’ve got answers.
Will your guests dance to the music I play ?
Everyone was up and dancing from the word go… and could have danced well into the hours of the morning if you’d kept playing! The selection of songs played kept everyone happy from our 7-year-old niece to our 80-year-old Nan! It was tremendous to see such a mixture of generations on the dance floor having such a great time!
Tony & Nichole Preston – Central Coast
Thank you for an amazing performance at our wedding. From the first song to the last, a flawless performance. On the night you provided just the right atmosphere and not one person needed encouragement to get on the dance floor. We are still getting feedback from our guests letting us know how much they enjoyed the Band. Looking forward to your next gig!
Michael & Louise Hughes. – Central Coast
Tim kept the dance floor alive from start to finish, with a fantastic energy and vibe which did not wane throughout the evening. Everyone from grandchildren to grandparents got up to strut their stuff! The music selection catered for all ages and was well arranged to keep guests on the floor all night. The Duo was continually complimented by guests (some of which were musicians themselves!)
Iain & Abby Robinson – Central Coast
Thank you for making our wedding so amazing. Having live entertainment at our reception was absolutely the icing on the cake; it was a personal touch that made the day a memorable one for everyone. You played our favourite songs and had everyone up on the dance floor – all night long! We had so many compliments on the night, and we know we have you to thank… so from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making our night !
Danny & Catherine King – Central Coast
What is the difference between the Solo – Duo – Band the duo act ?
Solo or 10 piece band – same result – FULL DANCE FLOOR!
Whether you need a 4 piece band or just me Solo depends on your audience size and your budget.
As a guide
less than 50 guests – Solo
Less than 70 guests – Duo
About 100 guests – Duo or Trio
More than 120 guests – Trio or Band
How long do we play for ?
The entire night – first to arrive last to leave. We don’t quote by time – weddings are an all-night party from Bridal Entry to farewell circle – we provide music ALL NIGHT.
Usually 1-2 sets of dinner music
Then 1-2 sets of dance music
It usually works out to about 4 hours total – with dinner & speeches & formalities not often is their time for much more than 4 hours.
Can we pay you extra to play extra ?
Yes for more than about 4.5 hours or to carry on after midnight we are happy to play extra for a small additional charge.
Pre-reception Canapés and………..entertainment ?
This is an extra option – nice for your guests while you are away having photos.
It’s worth considering if there is a few hours wait for your guests before you arrive at the reception.
How do you decide on songs ?
I will take away all the stress & worry about …
- What songs to choose for your ceremony & reception by working with you every step of the way to suggest songs & learn up to 2 new songs.
- You can relax & leave most of the song choices to me or utilize my easy to use forms to list out your ceremony & reception song preferences.
- I provide lists of songs that I know from experience work well
However many emails or phone calls it takes my commitment is to work with you to get the music exactly right for you for your day.
But a DJ or Jukebox is way cheaper ?
Yes they are – but Live entertainment is way better
- A live act is simply more entertaining
- A live act can be more dynamic – quiet & intimate – can alter tempos to suit
- A live act can change lyrics to personalize songs and be funny
- So long as a live act has a lot of varied songs & styles – they can be extremely versatile
I currently have 439 songs ranging from Elvis to Wiggles.
Playing a Wiggles song can be messy – I have seen the contents of many a guest’s schooners shoot out of their nose from laughter – so timing is crucial 🙂
While planning our wedding reception, we knew what we DIDN’T want………..a DJ blasting out the usual Funky Town and Nutbush. We had seen Tim at a gig, and felt that live entertainment would be much better. It turned out to be the best decision we made.
Heather & Shane Buckley – Central Coast
Well, we’ve always been fans of live music and when it came to our special day we knew a DJ just wouldn’t cut it. Everyone said it was the best wedding they had been to and that you guys really rocked – big time !
Theresa and Marc Beaumont – Central Coast
Book Tim Pringle for your next event, he was brilliant! Don’t think twice about it, way better than a DJ or jukebox. Thank you so much, Tim.
Amie Graham – Central Coast
A Solo or Duo – Surely we need a full band ?
In the end the result is the same – well-entertained & well-impressed guests but …
- With guest numbers under 200 you really don’t need a full band
- A solo or duo act takes up way less room & saves you $2-3000
- A solo or duo can be as loud as a band no problem – yes it’s true !
- The reverse is not true – a band cannot be as quiet or as intimate as a solo or duo
There is not one guest that has not mentioned how great the band was and questioned us on who and where you guys are from. You are exactly what Scott and I wanted to have on our Wedding Day, a band that knew how to party along with the guests and make everyone stay on the dance floor and we got exactly that. I can’t say it enough but thank you for helping us have the best night of our lives.
Thank you Scott and Tymeka Lawson – Sydney
For anyone who is looking for a band to play at any function stop looking you have found the best person ever. I found Tim on the internet and didn’t get a chance to see him perform before booking him so I had to take pot luck. He had everyone dancing and having great time. I received so many comments in the days after the party about the music and how fantastic it was. If you want your function to be a success make sure you book Tim.
Kindest regards – Karen Neumeyer
There are limited dates available especially during Sept – March and too many inquiries.

Tim’s Tips for Weddings
Hot tips learned from hundreds of weddings
From Performing and MC ing at many many weddings these tips may be helpful to ensure your day runs smoothly. Don’t let the dining time cut into potential Dancing time.
Too often I’ve seen long drawn out table service of 3 full courses take up to 60% of the reception time….then with speeches and formalities you are left with only 1 hour of dancing time.
Remember 81% of people say entertainment is the most memorable item at a wedding.
Ways to save time on dining and have more social time where guests are free to circulate and dance.
- If you have more than 100 guests consider a high-quality buffet instead of table service.
If having table service with large guest numbers – these tips can save you up to an hour of seated time …
- Have speeches during or after mains.
- Consider a simple self-served dessert served to each table rather than individual service.
- Suggest a self-served dessert to be served after speeches during dancing.
- For a less formal casual wedding consider cocktail service of canapes and substantials the entire night, while still providing table settings for those who want to dine seated.
Don’t show Photo Screens or Projector Displays During Dance Sets
At weddings if having a photo screen showing / display …. don’t turn it on and show it during a dance set!
It fixates everybody’s attention on the screen, they all stand still facing the screen and the dance set is wasted.
To get best the results with dance music (ie. a full dance floor) turn the screen off during dance sets and on during breaks!
Don’t let too many unplanned speakers up to waffle on
Occasionally there’ll be an unannounced speaker – someone wishing to say congratulations and all the best – then it opens the flood gates for every drunk uncle to get up to say their bit – they can say this to you in person – it can be a huge waste of your reception time to permit a bunch of announced speakers up. Recently an MC allowed anyone up to speak – speeches went on for 60 minutes, we played 11 minutes of dance music – then the lights came on – end of the night. Best to keep speeches to 1/2 hour max.
Make sure the band is set up next to the dance floor
Recently we played a couple of venues where the dance floor was set up in the middle of the room and the band was in the corner of the room. Another time we were told to set up on a lower level 3 stairs down from the dance floor, which was above us! It’s a lot harder for the band to interact with the audience when the audience is far away. This makes for an awkward situation and it’s harder to create a party atmosphere….we can live with it, but it’s just not ideal. Best for us to be set up next to the audience on the same level or as close as possible.
A farewell circle at the end is a great way to acknowledge your guests for coming
You won’t realize until a few days after the wedding how little time you spent chatting to certain guests. It’s likely you’ll only have 5-6 minutes of one on one conversation with any possible guest during your wedding day. The circle at the end is a simple way to individually say thanks. Regardless of the room size a circle or oval can be made and you can say thanks then leave before the guests do. I usually play 1-2 slow sing-along songs while you do this – it’s a great wind down to the day……if over 60 guests it can take ages to get around the whole circle so a brief goodbye is best as guests get impatient standing still for too long – for bigger weddings consider a guard of honour instead.
Using the services of ‘friends’ rather than professional wedding suppliers
Occasionally friends may offer to conduct your ceremony, MC, provide entertainment etc. If they are experienced in what they do then this is great. If they are not experienced but just willing to help and if you have never seen them do what they do then you run the risk of a sloppy job. As a wedding professional I’ve seen many inexperienced celebrants having terrible trouble with a crackling speaker system while fumbling their way through the ceremony. I’ve seen friends nervously MC and not stick to planned times and have speeches really late and leave only 10 mins for dancing time ! I’ve heard horror stories of totally unsuitable bands etc etc. If you know for sure that your friend or family member can do a fantastic job – GREAT … otherwise I strongly recommend you hire seasoned pros – after all … the memories of your day will last a lifetime.
